About the Map

At first glance, this map looks like it contains a long black caterpillar. It is really a series of GPS markers on the route that we used to drive from Mississippi to Maine. Each marker (or pin) shows the following information:

  • Date and Time
  • GPS Coordinates
  • Speed (mph and km/h)
  • Altitude (feet and meters)
  • Accuracy in meters

It appears that a pin was dropped approximately every 1-3 minutes. You will notice that when the road changes direction or we changed direction, the pins do not follow the normal pattern.

Using the Map

Click + to zoom into the map. Click – to unzoom. You will notice two mistakes that I made:

  • I was supposed to turn off my IPhone once we got to Kittery, Maine. Because I forgot, you can follow our trip to Logan Airport in Boston.
  • I also turned on my phone in Denver during the connection and then again in Santa Ana when I got home. My excuse is lack of sleep.
Just before we started this Power Trip, we got 4 hours of sleep and then we had a great breakfast at Waffle House in Southaven, Mississippi (hash browns were chunked and scattered).
